Job Description

The role of the Manager will be to provide the highest standards of professional leadership and management and will also be responsible for the day to day running of the creche. The Manager will ensure that the welfare of children using the service is paramount and that the needs of children are met. The ideal candidate will:

  • Be committed to supporting children’s rights with a firm understanding of child welfare and protection
  • Have knowledge and understanding of the childcare sector and associated regulatory requirements
  • Be HETAC Level 7 or higher in Early Childhood Care and Education
  • Have a track record of professional development in a childcare setting
  • Have childcare and management experience
  • Have an understanding of financial management in line with sector requirements
  • Be proficient in the use of technology including computer-based reporting systems (PIP, Hive , child path advantages etc.)
  • An understanding of implementing Aistear & Siolta
  • Have excellent communication and people management skills developed in a creche environment
  • Possess strong planning and organisational development skills

Summary of Post - Early Days creche Centre is a private early years’ service for children aged 1 year to 12. The service caters for up to children and provides additional supports for families/parents. The Manager's primary role is to support & manage a large staff team, to oversee and implement a quality early childhood programme that promotes the development of the child supported by Aistear, the early childhood curriculum framework and Siolta, the Quality framework.

Roles and Responsibilities

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Delivery of a quality, high standard, care and education service for children and their families, ensuring that best practices, policies and procedures are followed

Administrative & financial responsibilities attached to the running of the service

Manage, lead and support a team including Early Year education workers, , catering staff, etc

Support and build relationships with parents/families

The successful candidate must have

A recognised Early Years qualification (Level 7 or above) with extensive early years’ experience

Managerial experience 2-years plus re the operational requirements for the running of an early years’ service ie, staff development, admin/finance, policies & procedures, 

Good communication and interpersonal skills

High level of motivation, personal maturity and flexibility required
