Job Description

ECCE Room Assistant Required

 

We are currently looking to recruit an ECCE Room Assistant to support and assist in the provision of childcare of the highest quality in a holistic setting for children from 2 and 6 months to 6 years.

Person Specifications: The candidate must have a minimum FETAC Level 6 in Childcare or higher.  Ability to guide, observe, stimulate and supervise children in a safe caring environment as part of the childcare team.  Good communication and relating skills with children and staff. To work in close co-operation with the managers and other team members and liaise with parents and keep parents informed of the children’s progress and well-being.  Have a sense of humour, good knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations.  Complete Garda Vetting.

Duties and Responsibilities: Be willing to work with children of various ages. Perform a variety of task such as toileting, sterilising, supervision and engaging in play. Conduct observations of children. Follow the policies and procedures of the service at all times. Cleaning, tidying and storage of equipment and toys after use. Coordinate the implementation of activities suitable for different age groups. Maintain room and equipment, to ensure the health and safety of children at all times. Ensure a good standard of hygiene. Organise material and toys to the benefit of children. Support children’s development – emotional, social, physical and cognitive in carrying out activities. Attend meetings and undergo training as required.  Be aware of child protection procedures and advise managers should you have any concerns about a child. Maintain strict confidentiality, any breach of confidentiality about children and their families will constitute gross misconduct. Perform other reasonable and relevant duties as may be assigned from time to time.

To assist in the planning and implementation of an age appropriate stimulating programme of activities underpinned by Aistear and Siolta
